Electricity Distribution Review stakeholder forum

I think it’s great to get people
together at this stage in the process to start talking about what are the issues
what do we want of the distribution system not just today about 10, 15 years
into the future We’re excited to use this opportunity to meaningfully
undertake reform, reform to support the introduction of new energy technologies Now our goal of really the last maybe the last five years has been to put
customers at the centre of what we do, or to be more accurate about it to put
customers at the centre of what our regulated industries do The code now is
almost outdated and has a bit of an identity crisis compared to the grid and
consumer expectations of the grid so it’s important to start the conversation
early to understand the different perspectives that are coming together
and ensure that it’s an informed review I think it’s crucial for a
regulator like the Essential Services Commission to bring all the key
stakeholders together at the commencement of a reform process like
this, it gives everyone the opportunity to put forward the key issues, we can all
understand where each other is coming from We’ve heard from particular parts
of industry about their areas of concern or even areas of opportunity that we
could do in terms of changing our code but what we’re really mindful of is
getting a good sense of perspective from a broader set of stakeholders as well
