See Why Norman, Oklahoma is Ready for Clean Energy

– Welcome.
– Welcome. – Welcome to Norman. – Welcome to Norman, Oklahoma. (bright music) – I love Norman because
the people are passionate about their environment. – It is a college town. – We’re the third
largest city in Oklahoma, and so we have a lot of influence. – Clean energy is important
to me because I believe that God gave us responsibility to take care of His creation. – I care about clean energy
because of climate change. – The idea of sustainability is preserving what we have now for
the needs of the future. (fast-paced violin music) – OG&E wants to extend
the 25-year contract, and be a monopoly for energy in Norman, which I think is ridiculous. – They’re dragging their feet. They’re hanging on to coal plants. – You look back 25 years ago,
and how different it is today, well, you look in 25 years
how different it’s going to be in the future. That’s going to limit us significantly when the technological advances and changes start coming along. – We don’t have any idea
what the energy mix is going to be like in 25 years,
but we certainly hope that it’s going to be sustainable energy. – OG&E has a very low
percentage of renewable energy, and I think that’s unacceptable. – I think what we’re seeing if
you follow and extract trends that fossil fuels are going to struggle to keep up economically
with wind and solar. – OG&E needs to find
the most practical way of aligning themselves with the building of renewable energy. – There’s people coming
together and it’s time that we think globally,
but we act locally. The people of Norman can do this. – Norman is ready for clean energy. – Norman is ready for clean energy. – Norman is ready for clean energy. – Norman is ready for clean energy. (bright music)
